Now That’s What I Call
Cat Throne!
Feline Hunger: too grim, too cold, too covered in fur.
Not available in any store!*
Darkthrone forged Norwegian black metal into its most stripped-down, frost-bitten form — lo-fi production so intentionally raw it sounds like it was recorded inside a Norwegian winter itself, because basically it was. Armed with a four-track recorder, hypnotic finger-tremolo riffs, and a philosophy that more notes equal more weakness, Fenriz and Nocturno Culto built a kvlt so true it has no room for anyone else. Then cats came along and demanded entry anyway.
Fenriz and Nocturno Culto would never be caught dead in anything that didn't reek of cold, grim authenticity — but legend has it Fenriz already ran for local office holding his cat and asking people not to vote for him, so the man clearly has a soft spot that not even a decade of necro production can fully bury. Deep down, beneath the corpsepaint and the Necrohell Studio four-track, they just want to wear the Cat Throne tee.

Liner notes
Transilvanian Hunger (1994) was recorded entirely on a four-track recorder in Fenriz's bedroom, which the band christened 'Necrohell Studio' — making it one of the most influential albums in metal history produced on consumer-grade home equipment.
Fenriz performed all instruments on Transilvanian Hunger alone — drums, guitars, and bass — then mailed the recording to Nocturno Culto (who was living in a different town) and simply asked if he wanted to sing on it. He did.
When Fenriz ran for a seat on his local town council in Kolbotn, Norway, his entire campaign consisted of a photo of himself holding his cat with the caption 'Please don't vote for me.' He won anyway.
Lyrics for the second half of Transilvanian Hunger (tracks 5–8) were written by Varg Vikernes of Burzum, who was awaiting trial for the murder of Euronymous at the time of the album's release in February 1994.

Frequently screamed questions
What Darkthrone album does 'Cat Throne - Feline Hunger' parody?
It parodies Transilvanian Hunger (1994), Darkthrone's fourth studio album and the closing chapter of their legendary black metal trilogy. Ranked #3 best in their entire discography by Loudwire, it remains one of the most influential extreme metal albums ever recorded.
Why is the album called 'Feline Hunger' instead of 'Transilvanian Hunger'?
Because the only thing hungrier than a kvlt black metal duo in a Norwegian bunker is a cat at 5 AM who has decided your face is a food bowl. 'Feline Hunger' captures the same remorseless, single-minded intensity — just with fur.
Is Darkthrone actually from Transylvania?
No — they're from Kolbotn, a small suburb outside Oslo, Norway. The 'Transilvanian' in the album title is a nod to Bathory and the romantic-horror aesthetics of early black metal, not an atlas. Our cats, however, are equally indifferent to geography.
What sizes does the Cat Throne tee come in?
The Cat Throne collection includes a unisex tee, women's tee, crop top, tank top, and hoodie. Reviewers note the sizing runs slightly fitted, so consider sizing up one if you prefer a looser fit — the grim aesthetic looks equally good in a medium.
