Now That’s What I Call
Meowstodon!
Prog-metal fury meets feline fur — Meowstodon purrs at 11.

Mastodon built their legend on concept albums so dense they require a geology degree to unpack: a Moby-Dick odyssey, a shaman's mountain climb, an astral-projection séance named after a dead teenager. They write riffs the way tectonic plates move — slowly, inevitably, catastrophically. The only logical next step was always cats wearing their logo, because nothing captures the chaotic, multi-layered genius of Atlanta's greatest sludge-metal export quite like a cat with a beard.
Mastodon's label keeps sending them to photo shoots in tasteful black hoodies, but rumour has it Troy Sanders has a Meowstodon Cat Beard tee hidden under his stage rig — plausible deniability at 115 dB.

Liner notes
Mastodon formed in Atlanta in January 2000 after drummer Brann Dailor and guitarist Bill Kelliher moved from New York and met bassist Troy Sanders and guitarist Brent Hinds at a High on Fire show.
Source: Wikipedia — Mastodon (band)Their first four albums form a classical-elements cycle: Remission (fire), Leviathan (water), Blood Mountain (earth), and Crack the Skye (aether) — making them the only metal band whose discography doubles as an Ancient Greek science fair.
Source: Wikipedia — Mastodon (band)Leviathan (2004) is a concept album based on Herman Melville's Moby-Dick and was named Album of the Year by Revolver, Kerrang!, and Terrorizer magazines — three publications that don't agree on anything except that this album is a masterpiece.
Crack the Skye (2009) is named in tribute to drummer Brann Dailor's younger sister Skye, who died by suicide at age fourteen — a fact that recontextualises the album's astral-projection concept as a journey to find her.

What the operators are hearing
“The guys from Mastodon loved my shirt.”
“I originally owned this shirt but lost it. I was so angry about the whole thing that I needed to have it again. Glad they are still making them!!!”
“I love this shirt - it's comfortable, well made, and everyone loves it! I get comments from my students on it all the time.”
Frequently screamed questions
What is Meowstodon?
Meowstodon is Brutal Kittens' loving tribute to Mastodon — Atlanta's greatest prog-sludge-metal export — rendered in the only medium befitting their cosmic scale: a cat with a beard and/or a skull. Two designs, infinite riffs.
Which design should I get — Cat Beard or Cat & Skull?
Cat Beard for the Crack the Skye / The Hunter era fan who appreciates majestic facial hair. Cat & Skull for the Blood Mountain devotee who likes their cats with a hint of existential dread. Both are correct answers.
Will actual Mastodon fans get it?
One verified buyer reports that the guys from Mastodon loved their shirt — so yes, apparently. The joke lands with the band.
Do your shirts run true to size?
Generally yes, though a few customers have noted unisex tees can run slightly short in the body at larger sizes. If you're between sizes, sizing up is the prog-metal move — more room for the lore.
