Purrzum is a one-cat band, and the cat is not taking visitors. Every record is made alone — no studio, no producer, and famously no proper microphone: offered a professional rig, the artist demanded the worst mic in the building and tracked the vocals through an old helicopter headset. Scholars of the genre call this decision "correct." The name means "darkness" in a language invented for a fantasy novel, which remains the most metal use of a library card on record. The covers are always borrowed from nineteenth-century Norwegian drawings: fog, spruce, and one pale boulder that may or may not be a troll. Our tabby stands upright in the heather because something moved behind that boulder. It will keep standing there until the forest explains itself.
